I was born on April 22nd 1937 in Neptune City to my mother Francis a showgirl. My father was Donald an Italian American or a Latvian named Eddie.


Mum married Donald a year before I was born, not knowing he was already married. Things got worst, in 1974 researchers for Time magazine found that my sister was actually my mother and my other sister Lorraine was actually my aunt.


In '54 when I was 17 I moved to Hollywood and took a job working for animation company Hanna & Barbera at MGM. I trained to be an actor with the Players Ring Theatre, and made my debut in 1958 in 'The Cry Baby Killer'. Then 'The Little Shop Of Horrors', and 'The Saint Valentines Day Massacre'.


My acting career was going nowhere so I concentrated on writing and directing. The Trip and Head starring the Monkees were notable works, before returning to acting with Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper in 1969's 'Easy Rider'.


12 Academy Award nominations make me the most nominated male actor in the Academy's history. Winning three times for 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest', 'Terms of Endearment' and 'As Good As It Gets'. Who Am I ?
