I was born on March 26th 1944, in Michigan USA. The second child to my mother Ernestine a school teacher and my father Fred a former army solider.


When I was seven mum became seriously ill with tuberculosis, so we moved to Bessemer Alabama for seven years. Then on my 14th birthday we all moved back to Detroit, where I when to Cass Technical High School, working part time at Hudson's Department store.


At 15 I joined the Primettes, a local singing group. We won a talent competition in 1960. We got to audition for the Hitsville USA recording company and released two tracks on the Lu Pine Record label.


Late in 63, Mary, Florence, Betty and I had a hit with “When The Lovelight Starts Shining Through His Eyes”, then a number one with “Where Did Our Love Go” in '64. Florence was fired for alcoholism and we became a trio.


Twice married, with five children. I have continued to have remarkable success in the music field. I'm still with Hitsville, but you'll know them better as Motown. The Primettes became The Supreme's and the rest, as they say in history. Who Am I ?
