The inspiration for my design came from Andrea Palladio in the classic style of Inigo Jones a baroque style from 17th century France. I am 295 years old. 365 feet high and 518 feet long.


I replaced the my original when it was demolished in 1675, which stood on the same site since AD 604, however I am effectively in my fourth incarnation.


Some of the most important events in British history have taken part within my walls, and I have over a million visitor a year.


I am one of the most famous buildings in the world. My designer was the first to be buried under my roof, with Alexander Fleming, Horatio Nelson and the Duke of Wellington also in my crypt.


Great Paul and Great Tom are housed within my dome roof but fortunately have not rung since the death of the Queen Mother in 2002 – Who am I ?
